In the last years, people had to learn english through books, dictionaries and asking native english language, but now with the internet, we can look for information at whatever time and in least time than searching in books. Nowadays, we have an extensive list of places in which we can learn a second language. Also, we can find exercise that may help us to improve our new language.
Technology comes to facilitate our learning or teaching style. We can find all the information in english and that helps us to learn better and faster than in the past that we had to traduce all the words and sentences. But, how can we help our students to improve their reading and writing skill?. First, I think that as a teacher, we have to make our students feel confident with us. In this way, they will feel good and they will thrust in you. Also, they will feel that they can ask you when they do not understand something.
Then, we have to teach them some grammar structures, in order to help them to understand what they are reading or what they are going to write. We have to make sure that they know the sense of the reading or in which time they have to write their paragraph. Finally, we have to find a topic that is meaningful for them. Students like to share their own experiences in life with others and if you ask them to write about something that they know, they will be happy because they know the topic and they have the opportunity of share that with you. Also, we have to find a book that has something interesting for them.
And all those things, internet gives us in seconds. There we can find examples for writing assigments or names of interesting books based on categories and the age of our students; also, we can find some task that we can used when they finish to read a book.
It is important to remember that we need to teach them vocabulary or ask them to look for the meaning of the words that they do not know.
Another thing that could help our students is giving them some activities that they can develop in their home to improve their learning. We have to take advantage of have an important tool as the internet and try to learn more every day.

Hello, Beatriz.
ResponderEliminarI totally agree with you. Technology has come to facilitate the learning process in a significant way. I remember that some years ago, the physical dictionary was mandatory to carry it but now that we have the chance to have it on our devices is easier and lighter. Besides, I like the idea that we have to present a topic that might be meaningful for students.
Hello Sandra.
ResponderEliminarI agree with the ideas you wrote in your log. In the past, the learning of languages had more difficulties, and the methods were slower. Nevertheless, through technology, the process of learning has been considerably facilitated.
Thanks to technology, we can have access to massive information in seconds and this is an amazing advantage for us as teachers and for the stusents.
I agree with you Beatriz, for years people had to learn languages through books and it was the unique way to access to new information but nowadays thanks to the internet people has a lot of possibilities to learn whatever they want. Furthermore, teachers do not need too many things to teach a lesson, there is a lot of information on the internet that teachers can use to plan a lesson, the only thing that a teacher needs is to be creative. Specially as you said, I think that giving materials to students to work at home and being sure they know how to work on it, we are going to be adding a complementary learning process to students. Good job collegue.
