Based on the article: "Twenty ideas for using mobile phones in the language classroom" by Hayo Reinders.
Nowadays, the use of cellphones becomes necesary for everyone. We want to be in contact with our family, friends, cooworkers and every people that surround us. But also, we can use our mobile phones for learning and teaching a new language and this article mention twenty greatly ideas to do that.
But remember that use mobile phones with young or teenager students could have pros and cons. But first we are going to see the pros. One principal reason for using mobile phones in class is that students can create their own learning. For students may result boring or so traditional only receiving class in a classroom, but if they are able to use their cellphone for look for a word or recording themselves in a conversation; may help them to know what their mistakes are and auto correct them.
The second reason is that you can use a lot of activities both inside or outside the classroom. One of the activities that the article mention and that I really like was the idea 5: "Use the voice memo recorder feature to record conversations outside the classroom". Because in this way students practice the speaking and listening skill through interviewing someone no matter if it is between them or with a native speaker. The principal objective with this activity is that they use the language as much as possible and then, they can share their recorder in class to disscus with their classmates and also to get a feedback. Personally, I would like to use this activity in class because is funny and interesting know more about someone and students can practice the language in a different environment.
The last reason for using mobile phones is that there are many features that you can use with any cost and that all devices have it. And also, they can use it at anytime and everywhere.
One of the disadvantages of using mobile phones in class is that students could use their phones for unnecesary things. We have to monitore students while they are doing an assignment because they can distract with a social network or play music or doing something different to the teacher said. The second one is be conscious that we can not develop whatever activity that include the use of mobile data because not all the students have the capacity to pay that. So, we have to look for activities that do not required mobile data or provide them a network connection.
To conclude, the use of mobile data could be a good option to practice the new language in different ways and environments but we have to be clear with students that there are some rules for the use of cellphones in class and that it is not mean that they can use it anytime they want. Also, besides the activities that the article mention, we can create new ones that been accord with our students and necessities.

As you mention use mobile data can be a goog option to practice the new language because in this way teacher can call the students attention and teach the learner to make a good use of the benefits that the technology offers but also is important mention that soemtime students make a bad use of those benefits, for those reasons is important that teacher be around students checking if they are working in the activity assigned.
