Week 11: Learning vocabulary through internet

Based on the articles: "Online English-English Learner Dictionaries Boost Word Learning" by Ulugbek Nurmukhamedov and "Using Technology to Assist in Vocabulary Acquisition and Reading Comprenhension" by Andreea I. Constantinue.
Nowadays, most of the people know that internet may help them to improve whatever thing that are learning and learn English is not an exception. When you are learning a language, something that is principal is learn vocabulary; and to that, learners need to find the "perfect" dictionary that provides them all the tools that are necesary for them.
In the first article, are mention some features that we need to take account when we use a dictionary. The first one is the corpus-based dictionary, this means that the dictionary has to have real-word vocabulary and also the article provides a list of some dictinaries that have this feature. The second feature is the word frecuency, which means that the dictionary has to mention how frecuency we look that word because it is said that the first 1,000 or 2,000 words frecuency cover the 84.3 percent of conversations. The third feature is collocations, this means that a dictionary has to have the word combinations that normally go together. The fourth feature is authentic examples, for learners is helpful have a lot of examples of a word that show the different context in which the word can be used. And the last featuvre is the topical vocabulary, this means that the dictionary has to show how the words relate semantically to different categories.
Those are some principal features that we need to take account when we look for a complete dictionary. And internet facilitates us that searching, it help us to spend less time looking for a word and more learning how to use it in the real world.
In the second article we can see some things that vocabulary and reading have in common and it said that a good reader knows more vocabulary and vocabulary can help us to understand some text. For that, it is important to know at least 2,000 words in the language that we are learning. Technology can help us to improve both element through some exercise. Also, we can increase our vocabulary through reading different kind of article because for each topic we use different vocabulary or the same vocabulary but in a different context. So that, it is important to increase our vocabulary and also read more to make the learning process meaningful for us.
Also, we can use some apps that are special for learn vocabulary and they teach you not just the meaning but also some examples and exercise that facilitate the learners learning process.
As a teacher, we need to guide our students and be a facilitator for them.
